The beach is a wide beach with fine golden sand. The beach is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards during the summer months.

Facilities on the beach include lifeguard service (June, July & August), cafe with ice-cream kiosk, toilets and beach office. There are several drinking water taps and beach showers.

The part of the beach to the east (left) of the beach office (bottom of the lifts) is used all year round to exercise dogs so if you want to avoid any dogs it’s recommended to find a spot on the beach to the west of the beach office in the direction of Boscombe Beach.
