Alum Chine Beach is located just over a mile west of Bournemouth Pier. It takes about 20 minutes to walk there along the seafront promenade. Alternatively a Land Train regularly runs along the prom during the summer months and school holidays.

Alum Chine Beach is one of the best in the Bournemouth region and my personal favourite. Its wide sandy beach is clean and wide and the water safe and shallow. A pirate-themed adventure playground makes it popular with families with young children.
Other facilities include Vesuvio Italian restaurant/bar https://www.vesuvio.co.uk , an ice-cream kiosk and public toilets. Car park details and charges are given at the bottom of the page.
The RNLI lifeguard station operates from the beginning of May until the end of September.

Dog Owners: Dogs are not allowed on Alum Chine Beach between 01 May and 30 September. However you only have to walk 5 minutes in either direction until the beach becomes Dog Friendly. You’ll see the signs on the promenade showing the designated dog exercise zones. Dogs must be kept on a lead on the promenades and cliff paths at all times.
