Swanage Pier is the main departure point for scheduled sightseeing cruises and passenger ferries along Dorset’s spectacular Jurassic Coast. During the main visitor season you can enjoy a scenic cruise along the UNESCO World Heritage coastline or travel by boat to Poole Quay.
Most visitors book online before travelling, although tickets may also be available on board subject to availability. Tickets are no longer sold from the kiosk on Swanage Pier.

Swanage to Poole Cruise

The Swanage to Poole ferry is one of Dorset’s most scenic boat journeys. The crossing takes approximately one hour each way, sailing past Old Harry Rocks, Studland Bay and Sandbanks before entering Poole Harbour.
Passengers can spend several hours exploring Poole Quay before returning later in the day, making it an excellent car-free day trip. Live commentary is provided throughout the journey, while refreshments and a fully licensed bar are available on board.
Daily sailings operate between 1 April and 31 October, with additional departures during school holidays.

Jurassic Coast Cruise

If you would prefer to remain on board, Coastal Cruises also operate the Jurassic Coast Cruise.
This follows the same scenic route as the Swanage to Poole ferry, passing Old Harry Rocks, Studland Bay, Sandbanks and into Poole Harbour before returning to Swanage. The boat briefly calls at Poole Quay, but passengers travelling on the Jurassic Coast Cruise remain on board throughout the journey.
The circular cruise lasts approximately 2 hours 15 minutes and includes live commentary and a fully licensed bar.
