About Weymouth Beach
The beach extends from the entrance to Weymouth Harbour in the west to Greenhill Gardens in the east. Its fine golden sand and gently sloping seabed provide ideal conditions for paddling and swimming, particularly for families with younger children.
The main section of the beach, opposite the Esplanade, is the busiest during the summer months and is close to the town’s cafés, restaurants and facilities. As you walk east towards Greenhill Gardens and Bowleaze Cove, the beach becomes quieter, offering a more peaceful place to relax while still enjoying the same beautiful views across Weymouth Bay towards the Isle of Portland.
The Esplanade
One of Weymouth’s defining features is its elegant Georgian Esplanade, which runs the full length of the main beach. The wide promenade is ideal for a leisurely stroll and offers uninterrupted views across the bay, with plenty of benches where you can sit and watch the world go by.
